First Official Pregnancy Post

I am quite a few weeks behind on these, but I want to start them before I start forgetting everything!!

July 15, 2013

This was our social media announcement of our pregnancy on July 15. Our last name was not blacked out in the photograph. :)

Weeks 1-12 (First Trimester):
My first trimester was surprisingly pretty easy. I thankfully only got sick around two to three times because of some scents. I experienced some nausea as well. We found out we were expecting on May 4, 2013 (two days before my 24th birthday!!). What a nice little birthday surprise! We had our first doctor's appointment on May 24th at seven and a half weeks. We received some great little pictures and saw a strong heartbeat of 146bpm. We told our families on Memorial Day (May 27).  We had another appointment in June that went great, we heard the heartbeat, but they were not able to count it. We were able to visit DL's grandparents in Maryland over the fourth of July and tell them the exciting news in person. We made our official announcement on July 15 at almost 15 weeks. That pretty much wraps up my first trimester. I did not gain any weight and there were no "bump" pictures worth posting because there was no change.

Weeks 13-present (Second Trimester):
I am currently 17 weeks along! We had a doctor's appointment last Thursday and everything sounded great. The baby's heartbeat was in the 140's. We are finding out if baby G will be a boy or a girl in two weeks! We plan on having a gender reveal and we are excited about sharing the news with family and close friends together! We have decided we are going to find out at the appointment since that will be a special time for us and our first! I do not really have a strong feeling either way, so it will be a big surprise! I have been feeling great, but still tired at times. (I love taking some naps!) I officially gained my first pound when I went to the doctor last. I know baby G will be popping out any day now! :)

Life's Little Reminders

I like simple truths that can bring you back to reality and make your problems/concerns seem so small. I was sitting in church this morning and had one of these moments.

I Timothy 6:6-9
"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content."

Like I said, very simple! It is easy to let our issues seem so big, but the Lord said it best... if you have food and clothing, be content with those things! What do we have to worry about when He takes care of us? He knows our future and all we need to do is trust. :)

ChatterDays: Day 5 - Link Up

Day 5 (last day) link up with JennaBlogs.com.

Today's Topic:
What's your very favorite meal EVER? It can be home made, mom made, store bought, restaurant, etc.

I do not have a favorite meal EVER so I will give ONE of my favorite meals. (There are way too many to choose from!) Restaurant wise, I really enjoy Japanese food! Yes, fried rice included, so healthy I know! I think a lot of me enjoys the dinner and a show aspect of eating Japanese. Take-out Japanese is definitely a favorite as well. However, there must be shrimp (yum yum) sauce with it!

Speaking of that sauce, funny story.... my husband and I were in Washington D.C. in 2009 and we decided we wanted some Japanese food. This was around lunch time and we had been walking all day. We were so excited that we decided we would walk over a mile out of our way toward China Town to get some! After walking and following our GPS on our phone we finally arrived. We gave our order and then asked for some shrimp sauce. Our waitress looked at us funny and we tried to explain what we meant... then very seriously and in an accent stated "Whaaat???? This is Japaneeeese." lol At the time I was hungry and really wanted some of that sauce, but we had a pretty good laugh about it and still use that phrase to this day.

ChatterDays: Day 4 - Link Up

I am linking up again with JennaBlogs.com for Day 4 of the commenting challenge.

Today's Topic:
It may be July, but who is thinking about Christmas gifts already? I know I am! Share some of your gift ideas for this upcoming Christmas season and/or share about the best gift you have received!

I love Christmas time! As far as gift ideas for this upcoming Christmas season... I have not started thinking that far ahead yet! Sometimes I think of things throughout the year that would be great gifts for others and hope I remember the closer it gets to Christmas. On the tail end of this question, I love to receive gifts. I know that statement seems a little selfish, but I have found it to be one of my top love languages. I should probably clarify and let you know that when I say l love to receive gifts.... that does not mean tons of expensive items. Haha! I suppose I felt weird saying that I like receiving gifts so just needed to clarify I just like being thought of regardless of the item. My husband is one of the best gift givers! He is always so sweet to pick me up something every once in a while like a chocolate milk, some chocolate when it has been a long week, or something he sees when he thinks of me. (I noticed a pattern with "chocolate" in that sentence!)

After thinking about it for a while, one of the best gifts I have ever received (besides wedding rings, jewelry, etc.) would probably be a gift my husband bought me on our first Valentine's Day together. We met in early 2008 so this would be February 2009. He was attending college in Virginia and I was attending college in Tennessee. We would try to see each other as much as possible on weekends. We always tried to schedule Tuesday/Thursday classes so one of us could drive the five hours it took to see each other. :) Thankfully, his parents lived in Tennessee so he came home quite a bit. He put a lot of miles on his car in those years. ;) Anyway, I happened to be visiting him in Virginia that weekend. He surprised me with the sweetest (shutter fly) picture book of our relationship! He had taken time to use pictures of us and write about what all we had done together up to that point in our relationship and wrote me the sweetest letter at the end. I think at that point, I thought I might keep him around for a while, he pretty much stole my heart at that second. Another little tradition is that he buys me a bear with the date on it every Valentine's Day. He has done is since the first one in 2009. This is a memory and gift I never want to forget. I wish I had pictures of it to add. Hopefully I will get around to taking some and adding them later.

Chatter Days: Day 3 - Link Up

I am linking up again with JennaBlogs.com for Day 3 of the commenting challenge. I have enjoyed blogging a little something each day.

Topic: Share a project or recipe you've found and completed, your favorite pins or if you aren't a pinner, share a favorite tip with us (cleaning tip, cooking tip etc).

Pinterest (linked to my site) is definitely something I enjoy! As far as ever completing pins, that is a different story. I have reason to believe this is true for over 80% of Pinterest users out there! :) I love pinning and looking at humor. I am happy/proud to say that I have successfully completed at least one pin! Last year for Valentine's Day I "labored in love" and made this "52 Reasons I Love You" for my husband. It was a fun project and he loved it. It was a little time consuming, but very worth it. I did not age the cards and just used them new.

Love this idea!

ChatterDays: Day 2 - Link up

Today I am linking up again with JennaBlogs.com for Day 2 of the commenting challenge. Day 1 was fun and I received a few comments which was great and exciting.

The topic for today was to write about your favorite television shows/series/etc. I love snuggling up with my husband and watching a good movie and we watch some shows, but I could not decide on a favorite so I decided to write on a different topic! I never thought I would be one of "those people" when it comes to what I am about to write about, but after we got her she grew on me pretty quick.

My topic for the day is our dog, Remi (or as we like to call her baby Remi ).

First picture March 2012

Remi is a full blooded boxer and FULL of personality. She is the biggest people person and loves to be right on top of you. My husband talked me into getting her and I am so glad he did! She has a special story since I picked up Remi while my husband was in basic training with the Army. She kept me company (along with family and friends) until he arrived home. She loves him just as much (if not more) than me! Before Remi, I never really wanted a dog, but I could not imagine our lives without her. She fits right in and is a really great dog. We still call her a baby even though she is a year a half. Thankfully she did not get too big and is only around 45 pounds.

She is mean mugging here, but she really is sweet!

ChatterDays: About Me - Link Up

Happy Monday! I thought it would be fun to participate in a commenting challenge. Since I am a new "writer" in the blog world I thought it would be a good idea to get in on this. Today's topic for the challenge is "About You." This is a perfect topic since I have not gone into these details yet.

If I were to create an "About Me" section (which I plan to do so maybe I can use this when I get to that point) it would look a little something like this:

"My name is Hannah and I live in Tennessee. I am married to the greatest guy in the world. We have been married since October 30, 2010 and love to have a good time together. We laugh constantly and have a lot of inside jokes that probably only we would understand. I love the Lord and strive to always follow His word. My husband and I are expecting our first baby in January of 2014! We are super excited and nervous all at the same time.

As far as blogging goes, this blog will contain what is going on in my life. I plan to write a lot about adventures that my husband and I share together and of course the anticipation of our little one. Unfortunately I am not very creative and lack the touch of interior design. I can get by with cooking, but you probably will not see any ground breaking recipes with beautiful pictures on my blog. :)"

Direction

It is hard to find a starting place for this blog so I am just going to dive in and try to document our life in chronological order. :) I have a lot to learn and change on my blog to get it tweaked how I like it, but I am sure it will get there one day. My original plan was to get a blog started early in our marriage. However, we are nearing the three year mark and so that obviously did not happen. My next plan was to get a blog started BEFORE we got pregnant. I am excited to announce that did not happen either! I suppose this blessing gave me the little extra "push" I needed. I have so much I want to share, but I need to start at our beginning. Stay tuned for our love story!

First Post

I am finally posting my first official blog post! It is a little later than I anticipated, but I am excited to start documenting our life to be able to look back on.
